Our Heritage

From 1882 to today, Chism Farms has grown, changed and, in many ways, stayed the same.

What started on 60 acres has become a growing multi-generational family farm, producing corn, soybeans and sweet corn. While the crops and production methods have changed over the years, the most important things have remained steadfast: Agriculture is our way of life.

Our farm

Currently, we farm many acres of corn, soybeans and sweet corn. Progressive but sustainable is our goal. What does that mean? We are constantly searching for efficiencies and new ways to be both profitable and environmentally sound stewards of our land. We bring this integrity to everything we do — at work and at home.

Our Family

For over 30 years, we have raised our family on the same land Kent’s family did before us. The value of family is at the center of everything we continue to do. Being thoughtful about what we will leave for our grandkids challenges us to make good farming choices today and implement strong stewardship practices that set up the next generation for success.

Our daughter, Beth, and her husband, Josh, joined the farm operation in 2010. Adding new ideas, sweet corn and grandkids to the farm, we have grown into a truly family-first business.

Our future

Our future

Our vision is to be an agricultural enterprise that focuses on being profitable, progressive and sustainable. The agriculture industry is rapidly changing. The past several years have yielded enormous technological advances in equipment, seed, information gathering and marketing. We embrace these new technologies when they meet criteria for cutting costs, generating new market potential or efficiencies, or adding an environmentally-sound practice. We always make the choices we feel are best for today, and tomorrow.
